Boston Sports Scene

Lester370

Within two days, cancer-surviver John Lester pitches a no-hitter and the Celtics win an epic playoff Game 7.

It's a good week to be a sports fan in Boston.

Lester was great! What a story. He pitched amazing.

I liked the way Terry Francona hugged Lester at the end of the game. You can tell they have a special relationship, probably because of the cancer.

This is a great achievement ! Kudos ! It's big news here, too, because he is a Tacoma native. Elaine

Karen: Needless to say, but a no-hitter is a priceless gem.

Bryn: Terry Francona is the best Red Sox manager ever. Period.

Elaine: I did not know Lester was from the Seattle area. You guys need something to lift your baseball spirits...:)

You've got that right !! Elaine

....it's so bad, I'm reduced to searching the box scores for news about a 45 year old pitcher (Jamie Moyer), who used to pitch for the Mariners.....and now pitches for team I don't care about in a league I don't care about.....but still wins some games. Elaine

Jon pitched the no-hitter on my college roommate's dad's 60th birthday. The significance? One year before, her dad had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and not expected to live. Now by all test results, he's cancer-free. Here's to miracles.

Elaine - Jamie Moyer is still pitching? I had no idea. Great starting pitcher with longevity.

Christine - that is truly amazing. Thanks for sharing. Miracles do happen.
