One last note on travel, and this relates to the media. Why is it that the price of gas should make a difference on holiday traffic? "Gas prices are lower, so expect more people to take to the highway this holiday season."

Have you honestly ever determined your travel plans because gas went from $1.89 to $1.69? Gee, gas prices are lower so I think I'll drive to Florida. Conversely, has a price increase caused you to fly instead of drive?
This is one of those media snippets that simply doesn't make sense, much like the Farmers Almanac.
