If you hung around Kingston, N.Y., back in the late '70s, you may have heard of a band called Storm. Headed by the talented Scott Burnett, Storm was a force in the local Battle of the Bands with its hard-driving, smart prog rock approach.
Fast-forward to the new millennium and Burnett continues to make an impact. His new disc "Write Your Story" is packed with excellent songwriting and clever arrangements. Burnett's faith is evident throughout, his lyrics honoring a higher being.
Listening to "Write Your Story" is akin to sitting on a mountain ledge, the massive forests one ominous shadow below, a brilliant, endless sky a blanket of peace. Burnett captures the essence of inner soul searching through his music.
Now based in Seattle, Burnett continues to showcase his song-writing and guitar skills (he learned guitar from the estimable Ray Newton). From the driving "Who Is This King?" to the reflective "Surrendering," Burnett leads a musical journey with hints of David Crosby, America and Doobie Brothers influences, yet makes its mark as an original.
Sounds like Burnett has found his calm from the storm of his adolescence.
