Inky brown, moist morsels, baked together like a well-prepared casserole.
Hemlock chips piled high, an intrusive shovel carving into the mulch mass, its intent to beautify back-yard gardens.
The June sun bounces off each chip, slowly lightening its color, penetrating the mulch mass, aging it somewhat, priming it for long-lasting barbecue backdrop.
Until next June.
I have 2.5 yards of hemlock mulch sitting in my driveway, and I've got the entire front yard done. Now to get to the back. I'm getting tired of maneuvering around it when I back out of the driveway.

I finally finished. Six yards in two days. We'll see how my back is doing in the morning. You'll appreciate it when it's in place. And you can stop running over it.

Aaaaaaa! Hahahaha! This is a riot! Last year we had two yards in our driveway all summer and into September. I had to wait until I planted my bulbs before I could put the mulch down. I keep saying I'm not mulching this year. We'll see.
