Quietly walking on Ogunquit Beach, the surf of a free world rolling in and moistening the sun-drenched sand.
Family together, eating pastries and drinking coffee from Styrofoam cups on the big lawn overlooking the ocean.
A leisurely walk on the Marginal Way, stopping to peek at majestic vistas framed by wind-swept weathered trees.
And in the evening over a few glasses of Cabernet, the communal, obligatory ritual of poring through photo albums, admiring the likes of Bar Harbor, Salzburg and Saugerties.
The calm before the storm.
Because on Tuesday, it rained.
Totally dig the pretense. If only we knew what was next.
