It's incredible how many Red Sox fans get their hands on tickets for games against the Orioles in Camden Yards.
Over the weekend, it seemed there were more crabcake eating, beer-swilling fans in red jerseys than ever. Having seen this firsthand a few years ago, I thought it may have been an aberration.
Clearly, it was not.
Red Sox Nation doesn't mind taking the quick flight from Logan or TF Green to BWI. Obviously, tickets are easier to come by than trying to scalp on Brookline Avenue.
How would you feel if you're a Baltimore Oriole? You see a home game on the schedule and half the place is rooting against you.
While Baltimore's Red Sox fan base is clearly visible, it's not the only city that has its share of Red Sox fans. According to USA Today, the Red Sox' average road attendance is 39,095, the highest in Major League Baseball.
Clearly, the Red Sox are America's team.
And winning a World Series for the first time in 86 years helps.
It always blows my mind when the Sox are visiting and the fans there make so much noise for them, you'd think they were in Fenway. It's like that in Tampa Bay too. I helps that no one in Tampa Bay really cares about the Devil Rays and there are a lot of New England transplants down there.
What do you think of this Cabrera business? What a jerk.

Cabrera lost his cool. Great talent, but needs to relax. Clearly, he balked. Get over it.

Yes, Boston fans show up all the way out here in the Upper Left-Hand Corner too. I don't think they're flying cross-country, though -- they live here! I think the Red Sox have a fan base all over the country -- especially when they're winning. Besides, red is a very hot color this fall.
