Oh my. That is such a lovely decription. Even if I hadn't seen the Hudson Valley with my own eyes many times, you've painted such a quietly breathtaking scene that I could easily imagine it.
You sound as if you had a magical time growing up, Dan. Lucky fellow, you are.
Just as an aside I'm realizing reading your blog today that you grew up only about a 100 or so miles north of me--whist I grew up in the state to the south that borders yours--at almost the exact same time period.

Cyn - this is actually a recollection of hiking up North Mountain, which is just outside Saugerties in the Catskills. We often hiked and camped in my late teens, early-20s.

That's neat that we had somewhat parallel lives. Times does fly, doesn't it?
