Here's an embarrassing example of the truth that you learn something new every day.
I've heard of the game "Rock, Paper, Scissors" since I was a kid, but never understood how to play.
When the topic has come up, the theme has always been "the stronger form wins."
But in my mind, I've always thought, "Of the three, what is stronger than a rock?"
So, to me, the game was silly. Throw the rock out there and win every time.
But yesterday, after all these years, the little person who lives in our house explained that paper is stronger than rock because paper covers rock. So it's not a guarantee to go with the rock.
Now I get it. Nothing is a guarantee, because it depends on what the other player throws out in front of you.
Took me long enough to figure out.
