As a kid, every Christmas, or so it seemed, a neatly wrapped Life Savers book sat under our tree in my pile by the radiator.
It was a standard gift, one I knew I could count on, like the new socks and pack of 12-exposure Kodak film.
I enjoyed the Life Savers, especially the Butter Rum.
I always knew which package contained the Life Savers book. It was a square box with a detectable seam on the long side where the book opened. I would run my finger along the seam, anticipating the 12 different flavored rolls and thinking about which one I would open first.
Just another of those special family Christmas memories.
